These guidelines are intended to help practices and games run safely, smoothly, and consistently across Auburn Fastpitch. Some items may not apply to our youngest divisions, but as players get older, these expectations become increasingly important.
Our goal is simple: keep the focus on softball, support the coaches, create a positive team environment, and make sure every player has the opportunity to learn and grow.
Player Expectations
- Players should arrive with the required equipment for their division, including a batting helmet with cage, fielding mask, glove, and bat when applicable.
- Once players enter the field or dugout for a practice or game, they should remain with the team until the activity is over unless they need to leave for an injury, emergency, or bathroom break.
- Only players and coaches are permitted on the field and in the dugout during team activities unless otherwise directed by a coach.
- Friends and family are always welcome to attend games, but players should remain focused on their team and should not be distracted by visitors near the dugout.
- Once team activities begin, the focus should be on softball, teammates, and coaches.
- Electronic devices are not permitted during team activities. Phones and other devices should remain in players’ bags unless needed for an emergency.
- Black softball/baseball pants are required for games when applicable. Shorts should be avoided at practices because players may be sliding, diving, or participating in drills that require them to be on the ground.
- Players may be asked to play different positions throughout the season. Coaches will provide opportunities whenever possible, but player safety, skill development, and game situations will also be considered.
Parent & Spectator Expectations
- Please allow coaches to coach. We ask parents and spectators to avoid giving instructions from the sidelines, as conflicting directions can be confusing for players who are still learning the game.
- Auburn Fastpitch is a recreational program. Our focus is on developing skills, building confidence, learning teamwork, and helping players develop a love for softball.
- Game strategy, lineups, defensive positioning, and coaching decisions are the responsibility of the coaching staff.
- Please support all players and coaches in a positive and respectful manner.
- Parents, siblings, friends, and other spectators should remain outside the dugout and field areas unless invited by a coach.
- Smoking and vaping are not permitted around team activities or playing areas.
Attendance & Communication
If your player will be unable to attend a practice or game, please notify the coach as far in advance as possible. Timely communication helps coaches plan practices, lineups, and game coverage.
Coaches may also communicate additional team-specific expectations throughout the season. We ask families to stay informed and reach out directly to their coach with questions or concerns.
Our Goal
Auburn Fastpitch wants every player to have a safe, positive, and enjoyable experience. We appreciate the cooperation of our players, parents, coaches, and spectators in helping us create an environment where the girls can learn, compete, have fun, and grow as teammates.
